The NILU Atmospheric Backward Transport Analysis Products for MILAGRO, INTEX-B, IMPACT, MEGAPLUME

What this site is about

This site presents a resource to interpret transport processes and how they influenced aircraft measurements during recent aircraft campaigns (MILAGRO, INTEX-B, IMPACT, MEGAPLUME). It attempts to replace trajectory calculations -- to date, the major tool used for that purpose -- with quantiative dispersion model runs including full turbulence and convection parameterizations. The plots shown are from backward model runs using the FLEXPART model. A description of the various products derived from the backward runs can be found here.

For completeness, forward runs for three continental tracers, plus an Eastern European fire tracer, have also been calculated. You can produce a variety of plots based on these runs, using our interactive plotting tool, and selecting "MILAGRO_ETC" as the project: The interactive tool for producing custom-made plots
